Tea Type: Oolong
Origin: Tianzhukeng Village, Guangdong, China
Dancong ("single bush") oolongs are grown in the Fenghuang ("Phoenix") Mountains in Guangdong province. They are known for mimicking the flavors of fruits and flowers. They are some of my personal favorite oolongs, and I am proud to introduce this first addition to the Steep Valley Catalog!
The smell of the dry leaves carries sweet notes of stone fruit and honey, and when boiling water is added, the smell shifts to a sharp floral aroma that hits high in the nose.
The flavor carries notes of orange and its zest, a touch of peach and a pleasant light astringency that puts this in the position of being one of my favorites.
Use good, clean, filtered or spring water for the best flavor experience.
